A day in life of primary school teacher

Maria, mother of two starts her day at 6 am with a cup of coffee to her husband followed by a flask of Horlicks for her daughters. Generally her daughters devi & priya wake up at 7 am. Devi is in her sixth standard and priya is doing her fourth standard. The best thing that maria feels happy about is her daughters devi and priya studying at the same school where she works. It reduces her work by a huge amount and she takes her daughters along with her to drop them in school. After she drops them she parks the vehicle and reaches the staff cabin where all her colleagues drop in to say a hello’’

Maria, a primary school teacher handles sessions for fourth and fifth grade preferably mathematics. As we all know handling primary school students is always a daunting task. What differentiates maria from the rest of her colleagues’ is the way she brings in focus of students in the class towards learning. She prefers her class to be an playground where every kid will be asked to play the game of mathematics. Instead of traditional ‘’I speak u listen’’ concept of teaching. She adds” I invoke play way method which will give you the joy of learning’’.

Maria has never gone the hard way when things don’t work the way she wanted to be. Instead she prefers to sit in and spend time to bring kids into their grove. She recalls an incident where, a fourth grade student, prasanna had a habit of stealing stationary from his friends and got caught by one of her colleagues during an science session, the faculty had given prasanna hefty punishments and issued a letter to his parents for future action. Surprisingly the next day, the student instead of regretting for his own mistakes had other ideas to take revenge. He went in to the staffs cabin and carried three to four books from the place and when he was about to leave home, He just disposed those books into the drainage canal outside the school. When he was doing this activity, it was noticed by one of the school student. On enquiry by his friend, prasanna said “all these are old books and am disposing it”.

He got suspicious and the next day, when the concerned staffs were on the lookout for his books, he came across this particular student revealing the activity done by prasanna. When this came to light Maria called prasanna and enquired about his problems and addressed it by love. Only because of her kind approach, she came to know that Prasanna developed the habit of stealing not to take things and use it for his own. He actually used this activity to take revenge on his friends who were actually teasing him for various reasons. The kindness shown by maria towards prasanna brought in a welcome change in him if not for those corporal punishments.
After she finishes her morning sessions, she takes her lunch which she brought in her snuff box from home. Strangely, the fresh cooked food in the morning will be packed in snuff boxes for her daughters and husband. She actually takes the previous days left overs with a mix of fresh preparations for her lunch.

When the day dawns, she walks in to her daughter’s class and enquire their progress and picks them to home. She reaches her home, starts taking tuition classes for the neighbourhood people and in the intervals she prepares the dinner for her family.
In her busy schedule, she never misses to plan her family’s financial budget and to monitor the day to day needs and expenses. Starting From vegetable stock to ironing of clothes, daughter’s studies to husband’s health her to-do list is unending.
I wonder who else can be the best manager than maria in terms of managing her responsibilities….?
